Hello everyone! (well, just me for now)
At the end of this month we will celebrate our 2nd Anniversary!
We should really go for something spectacular, and for that, we are definitely open for suggestions.

Hey Paul,
We would be more than happy to colaborate with you on this. Let us know when you need anything, and we'll try to help. It would be great to have some big scale Salsa event in town!
See you.
Hi Lizs,
Apparently there is now a Salsa night on Sundays at Cage Bar. It has started unfortunately now that I am away in Europe until September, so I can't say much, but it will probably be quite nice:
The Cage
3A Ton Duc Thang, District 1
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Should start around 19h.
I hope you enjoy your visit to HCMC!
If you want to get them from me, you can bring a USB stick to class, and I can copy some music for you. Or a blank cd.
Some names of artists:
Marc Anthony (make sure you get the salsa version of his songs), DLG (Dark Latin Groove), Oscar D'Leon, Sonora Carruseles, Tito Rojas, Willie Chirino, La India, El Gran Combo (full name is El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico), Johnny Rivera, Jose Alberto El Canario, Soneros del Barrio, Africando...
I will do a bit of soft promotion tonight, on FaceBook. There are actually already something like 3 events related to it that I have seen.
Not yet. Not sure if it's a good idea to add it now, when the promotion has already started.
We are hoping to get some special black t-shirts ready by then, but this is no official dress code... just a way to celebrate a little the 2 years of SalSaigon.
Those are good ideas!
We have 2 shows planned, but I am not sure if you can call them "kick-ass" ;)
They should be fun to watch, in any case.
Keep the ideas coming!
Whoooo!
More members are joining! Spread the word and let's get the forum happening!
I am starting to feel like I post too much, don't be shy, and share your thoughts and ideas...

Hey everyone,
As some of you have probably heard by now, pretty soon (the day after our Anniversary party) there will be the "Salsa Cruise", organized by the "Bonsai Cruise".
To answer some of the questions I am getting:
Yes, we will do a small performance and workshop there.
If you have been there before, you know that the party was nice, but there was very little Salsa, with both decks having live bands playing. We requested (both times) to have the upper deck without band, so we could play our own Salsa music, and have some decent hours of Salsa dancing.
Well, one more time they have arranged for the upper deck to have the same band, so...
I have complained to them, and we'll see what happens.
Don't take me wrong, it is a nice party, and if you are interested, go for it! But I can't really call it a Salsa party.
I'll let you know if things change!
Well, as you know by now, the place where we will do it is Alibi Club.
It is a really nice place, check it out here:

We already have a nice place for this party. And it is a nice and modern and nice bar, with space. I am sure that this party will work out very nicely.
If it works well, it would also be possible to do there our monthly parties from now on.
We will make it public soon, don't worry.
For now, let's think about activities, surprises, things that you would like to see in that party, for the Anniversary! :)
Hi,
In this section of the forum I think we can start talking about organizing group trips to other places in the South-East Asia region (or further!), to Salsa Congresses and other salsa events.
As you know, there are some very nice salsa events in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur...
For example, in this page:
http://www.dancechic.com/
I can see that the Malaysian Salsa Congress will take place at the end of June. I am unfortunately already in Europe then, but maybe some people would like to get together to go there.
Going to a Salsa Congress is really an unforgettable experience!
:)
I'll see if I can prepare something.
Any other ideas that don't include getting me to work even harder? :P
Hello,
I would like everyone to post in Vietnamese as well if you want to.
So I am not sure how to organize it.
Should we have separate categories for Vietnamese and English?
Or should we just keep them together?
I have created a poll for that, please answer it.
In any case, I would like someone to send me the translations of the titles of the categories into Vietnames, so I can add them next to the titles in English.
Here are the current categories:
# SalSaigon Courses
# Parties, Events, Places to dance
# Dancing In General
# International Salsa stuff
# Other Stuff
Thanks!
